Yeah, I remember it being really scary the first time I watched it, particularly the first half, but on second viewing it doesn’t hold up so well. Still has some nice spooky images though. It’s definitely a cult classic with a strong fan base. Not for me though
I’m guessing you’ve probably seen Threads, the BBC shows from the 80’s about a nuclear attack on Britain? Not scary as such just really dark and disturbing. Think I watched it when I was 12 so probably explains a lot 😐
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is terrifying as is Watership Down, but not sure that’s the kind of movies you’re looking for 😁
Yeah. Because it was the 80’s, if it wasn’t in the newspaper you didn’t have a clue what it was about. It was announced as this big TV event so families tuned in together. Don’t think it was on that late either. Then we all just sat there horrified. This was in the midst of the Cold War so MAD was a distinct possibility. Anyway still traumatises me to this day. Mind you, I haven’t watched it since. Might be like an episode of EastEnders these days 🤔
Similair thing. I originally saw it in the theatre as a teenager with a bunch of other teens and it scared the bejesus out of us for some reason. I think we just all fed on each other's fright. Yeah not as good on further viewing. But I think it's kind of underrated as a movie. Better than people give it credit for.
I have seen this movie several times, including the original theatrical release, when I hated it.
I hope it will be good each time I see it.
Every time it's gotten a *little* better, maybe just because it's grown on me. It definitely has potential in the early going, but the second half just feels like a big missed opportunity.
I have definitely seen worse ALIEN knockoffs, but I've seen better, too.
I’ll watch horror, but my husband loves to tease me afterward—something I both love and hate. After we watched "Get Out," he’d lock eyes with me and slowly stir his tea. Did it for a full week. Freaked me out every single time. If you get a chance to watch the movie, you'll see why.

Was Threads the one that people freaked out over? Yeah, Watership Down and Chitty are creepy alright.

Yeah it probably is underrated. I thought the premise was great, and could have been an all-time classic with just a bit more in the 2nd half.
Sorry for the typos. But yes agree!
I live for these Short Shivers! Can’t believe I somehow missed this one, it’s very funny.
Thank you! Open to recommendations as always. I’ve done another one since Event Horizon too!
I read that one already and loved it. Get Out is one of my favorite horror movies! Did you see Sinners?
I did! Really fun movie ❤️👌🏻
An absolutely iconic movie.
I really enjoyed it, but can’t help but wonder about those deleted scenes 👀

Yeah the 2nd half is pretty chaotic eh? And a total missed opportunity.
It's a solid spook fest, but I remember even at the time I felt it didn't quite stick the landing. Still, it's nice so many people enjoy it.
Hard not to think about what might have been if they’d kept the deleted footage.
Thanks for the review.
I've only seen this movie once, and that was enough.
Yeah, I doubt I'll bother with it again 🙄
I’ve been hunting for a movie that might actually make my 15-year-old blink. But kids these days? Unbothered. Mine especially.
…Which, now that I think about it, might be partially my fault.
Have you seen Get Out? Tea hasn’t hit the same since.
No, but that's been on my list for a while. My wife won't watch horror, so finding the time to watch on my own is a challenge.
